The now Miss Universe Paulina Vega, defeated Miss USA, Nia Sanchez in the final round, hence the latter became the first runner up of the beauty pageant.
From a total of 88 contestants, the 22 year old Vega was crowned by the then reigning Miss Universe Gabriela Isler who is from Venezuela in a ceremony held in FIU Arena, Doral-Miami in Florida.
Paulina, who has been modelling since she was 8 years old is currently enrolled in a Business Studies program and plans on opening up a company of her own.
After winning the title of “Miss Universe”, Vega will receive some highly coveted prizes that include: an apartment in New York, variety of beauty products and clothing items, unspecified sum of money as salary and an year-long scholarship from the New York Film Academy.
The 2nd, 3rd and 4th runners up of the contest were Miss Ukraine Diana Harkusha, Miss Netherlands Yasmin Verheijen and Miss Jamaica Kaci Fennel respectively.
